Mr. Phipps has always had an affinity for math. Upon graduating from High School in Colorado, he attended BYU-Idaho as an accounting major. After a few semesters, he met his wife, Brynja Phipps. Brynja is a Florida native, and together they decided to relocate to her hometown of Port Charlotte. Upon arriving to Florida he worked in banking while simultaneously transferring into an online schooling program to finish his Bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies. During his time as a paraprofessional Mr. Phipps assisted in a middle school classroom that had variety of educational needs. It was there he came to understand the importance of meeting students where they were at and adapting lessons to meet the needs of students. He then transitioned to assisting in the culinary program at Charlotte Technical College where he was able to develop and implementent a new technical math curriculum as a long-term substitute.

Mr. Phipps enjoys teaching Financial Literacy to the students at Lemon Bay and seeing the students find success with the real-life application of financial literacy. He also finds joy in the time he has spent teaching Algebra and Geometry.

In his free time, Mr. Phipps enjoys catching a good football game and bringing his family to enjoy school events.
